Database Unit Test Project RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Folks!

Have any of you used the Database Unit Test Project available in SSDT? Well, I have a question.

I don't think it always used to be this way, but it seems that in order to create a Database Unit Test Project in SSDT (VS 2017) you must follow these steps:

    1. Create a Database Project

    2. Add a database object (stored proc, table) to that project)

    3. Right-click the object and choose "create unit test"

    4. The first time you do this, you will be prompted to create a project for you test to live in. This project will be of the type Database Unit Test Project, and it will live in the same Solution.

I usually then delete the original Database Project from the solution because I don't need it for my purposes. However, I seem to remember it was not always this way. You used to be able to just add a new project of the Database Unit Test project type. However, nowadays, that project type is not available from the new project options.

Anybody know a way around this? I'd like to be able to just create the Database Unit Test project type without having to go through those extra steps.

    Thanks for any suggestions.
