  • hi 4 alll

    i puplished excel 2007 file to document library and i enable content manager

    when i have to open the file useing excel service this error is apear

    An error has occurred.

    Please contact your system administrator if this problem persists. 

    so what is the problem  ?

    i think i have to recreat a new ssp.

  • When you see a generic error like this, the log files in the 12 hive often provide greater detail (though not always useful, in the end).  I'd start there.

    You need to enable Excel Services in your farm. Probably through the SSP Management page,

    To enable Excel Services, you should do the following:

    1. Open the SharePoint 3.0 Central Administration site
    2. On the main page you will see a list of machines.  Click on the name for a machine that is one of your application servers (or if you only have one machine, click on it).
    3. Next to Excel Calculation Services, click Start.
    4. When the status changes to Started, Excel Services is running.

    Note that you will need to create a trusted location as well before you will be able to successfully load workbooks using Excel Services.
