Refinement Panel webpart showing duplicate values RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have search center configured in sharepoint 2010, with following IMP settings

Content Source = Current Web aplication

Scope = rule to include data from only 3 document libraries on root site collection

Problem Statement :In refinement panel web part it display duplicate values for the taxonomy fields [in this case Department Field] in following formats

    1. Quality [ on mouse hover says --> Refine by Quality]

    2. Quality [ on mouse over says --> Refine by 39;#Quality|GUID]

    1. Department is managed metadata field with quality as unique value in it

    2. Also its show full path setting is disabled [for e.g Country | State | City]

    3. If refined by both values it shows same results however the "outof" no. of document changes

Has any one faced this issue.?? any pointers regarding this would be highly appreciated

    Regards, Ketan Gandhi

  • Hi Ketan,

Please note that When mapping a crawled property to a refinable managed property, you should select the crawled property with the ows_ prefix!

For example, there is a managed metadata column  'Business Unit'. SharePoint search generates the following crawled properties for it.

Crawled Property Name                         Mapped To Managed Property

    ows_Business_x0020_Unit               -       (Not Mapped)

    ows_taxId_Business_x0020_Unit     -       owstaxIdBusinessx0020xUnit

For creating managed property as refiner, we need to create a new managed property mapping ows_Business_x0020_Unit.

For your scenario, it seems that your managed property maps both the two crawed properties.  So please find your managed property which you make it as refiner and make sure it only contains ows_prefix crawled property.

And don't forget to run the full crawl afterwards.
