After running web project in 2012, it was opened in 2010.  Now it fails to load in 2012.  First get a message saying "Project has not been migrated".  If I try to reload the project, I get a a pop up alert saying "Invalid Cookie, Parameter Name : Cookie".   The message then states "The project requires user input.  Reload the project for more information".

    How can I fix this?

The issue wasn't with the vs project, it was with the IIS Express site.  I deleted that and let vs 2012 recreate it when the project loaded and that cleared up my issues.

if your project was added to some source control system, then rollback your changes.

If not, then you have to recreate the project. the web project file is messed up.

This is because 2010 and 2012 use substantially different configuration settings between versions. Now that you learned the no-no, lol there is a way to fix this without recreating the project. I'm not 100% sure what the solution was off the top of my head but I was just reading something similar about getting xna 4.0 (2010-based) running in 2012 (as well as projects from the previous version). The problem was very similar and essentially the same issue.

I'll see if I can find the article that shows how to resolve this and revert the files and post it up here if I locate it again.

Sorry, let me add a little more information.

The project is in source control.  Opening in 2010 did not change the project file.  Nothing was checked out/checked in to source control and the file on have on my local machine is identical to that in source control.  Others on the project are using that same project in 2012 without issues.

I have also deleted the entire branch of source from my machine and forced a get latest from source control so the issue isn't with any of the source files.
