Windows 8 HTML/Javascript Application How to hide the js files

    Question

  • Hi All,

    I have created a Windows 8 Application in HTML/Javascript.

While registering to the app store I saw that, after installation of application from Windows store all the application code is exposed as it is.

I have some confidential URLs to be hide from the Users.

Is there any way to perform the operation.

    Regards,

    Shyam Sundar N.

  • No. JavaScript is not pre-compiled so the files have to be available to run. You can try obfuscating the code so it is harder to read, but the only way to truly secure data is to keep it off of the client.

Even in a compiled C++ app a clever user could find your secret URLs by examining the file or by monitoring outgoing connections.
