Sharepoint 2010 Central Admin Site RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am not able to open central admin site . It shows an error "Service Not Available". Search has also stopped working. however all other sites are working

It was happened most probably when I installed some search software on that server.

I already checked application pools identity, I re-entered administrator user and password in it. I reset IIS still it is not working.

Please let me know the resolution.

  • Hi,

The following will unprovision then re provision the Central Administration webApp. This will not affect any other part of your farm, Central Admninistration is just a GUI

to unprovision Central Administration: psconfig.exe -cmd adminvs -unprovision

to provision Central Administration: psconfig.exe -cmd adminvs provision -port 2010 -windowsauthprovider onlyusentlm

This should bring up Central Administration but not resolve your Search issue. What do the ULS logs have on the error?

  • Hi,

Have you tried to run configuration wizard and check if everything is OK? You can remove central admin and add it again.

  • I uninstalled all extra software programs that  I installed on the server. Also, I tried running configuration wizard, it was successfully executed with all 10 steps but problem did not solve.

  • Ivan, I too am having this same issue after upgrading to SP1 for Sharepoint 2010.  I ran the commands you mentioned but still cannot open the Central Admin Site.

Any other suggestions would be greatly apprecieated.

    Thanks, Tandrist
