API used in Salesforce Connector available in Azure Data Factoryv2

    Question

  • I am trying to use the Salesforce connector available in ADFv2 to integrate & ingest data from Salesforce. However, I am not able to know the underlying API mechanism (REST vs BULK API) the connector uses. Unlike the SSIS connectors (available) which provides the capability to force using BULK API, the Azure Salesforce connector doesn't provide such a setting.

Does anyone know how the Azure Salesforce connector works and which API it uses internally?

  • Generally, ADF tries to use BULK API as much as possible, but may fall back to REST API in certain constraint.

  • Hi,

Thanks for your answer. I would like to understand couple of things

    1. What are the constraints in which ADF Salesforce connector falls back to REST API
    2. Is the behaviour of the Salesforce connector documented? If yes, can you kindly provide the link which provides this information.
