  • For video Editing and Video Capture : Why Microsoft recommends using DirectShow  rather MFT for Win Vista, because MFTs in WinVista is not supporting video Editing and Capturing features or any  other reason ?

  • Media Foundation does not support video capture in Windows Vista. (This is being added in Windows 7, however!)

    Also, in Windows Vista, Media Foundation has limited in-box codec support (WMA, WMV, and MP3).

    For Windows 7, Media Foundation is potentially interesting for video editing, because the source reader and sink writer objects give the application a lot of flexibility when it comes to reading and writing media files.
