Excel 2007 Pivot table and SSAS Cube RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, i am having Urgent performance issues in using Pivot tables with a Cube in Production. The fact tables and Dimension tables are not that big with less than 7000 rows. I am new to SSAS but the query returns data when run directly. When user clicks on Refresh button in excel it runs for hours with no results.

    (1) How can i see the sql generated by this Pivot functionality that is hitting the Cube?

    (2) Any ideas on how to improve performance? Note that the dimension tables or fact table has no keys, so is that the issue?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi Pavan133,

I would suggest you try to troubleshoot this issue on the client-side firstly. How many users encountered the performance issue? Please also try to perform a performance test by using Excel 2010 or 2013 client application. In Excel 2010, multi-threading helps improve the overall PivotTable performance.
