Sending email to SharePoint user without profile RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hopefully this is an easy answer.  I find random comments out there regarding SharePoint 2013 workflows and that users involved must have a profile in the UPSA profile database.  Is this true?  If so, why is it necessary and is there a way to send an email to a user that doesn't have a profile?

We have users who were recently migrated from domain A to domain B using Move-SPUser.  As a result they are no longer getting emails generated from SP 2013 workflows.  Their email address is present in the site user information list.  They have a basic profile in the profile database that only contains user name and email.

    Should this be working?

Were you able to solve this one?  if so, could you let the community know? Just now came across this.  It's an excellent area to get answers on for the SharePoint community.

  • I never got a clear answer, but I can tell you that when I manually added their email addresses to their profiles, they started getting emails.
