Insert Picture in Word & powerpoint 2010 no longer set the AlternateText property to the Pic Orginal name?! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

in Office 2007 we used to identify the pic in Word & powerpoint by the AlternateText Property , the Pic AlternateText property is set the same Original Pic name when Inserting an image.

In Office 2010, this property is no longer set and left blank.

Is there any other Property we can use to know the original name of the inserted pic?

    Thanks

  • Did you look at the Name property?  I thought the Alternative Text property was only valid for Web pages.

  • The Name property is not unique, meaning its an auto generated name when you insert new image and doesnt hold the image original name, its like PictureX where X is an auto generated number that changes everytime you insert the image.

And thats why we had to use the AlternateText property as it holds the original name of the inserted image.

AlternateText property is valid also for accessibility in office , the problem is MS changed that in office 2010 by adding a Title field where in 2007 it only had description field.
