    No matter what I try, it always says "Please enter a different password" when I try to add a new user.  I have tried to add a user directly in the instance of the site and through the wizard as instructed uin the white paper.

    Please help!

    i encounter the same and then found out that password requires at least one none alphanumeric character.

    Thanx!  That worked well.  Now, how do you change the specs required for specifying a password?

    i saw it somewhere, basically require you to set it inside web.config
    i am trying to figure out what's the syntax to specify the password requirement as well. if i find it again i'll post it.
    if anyone else find the info, please post it here, thanks!

    you can change the global machine setting for the password in the file

    C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG> machine.config.comments

    you will see this text:   you should be able to copy parts of this to your web.config but  i'm not sure what exactly from this file needs to go to it.

    Keep in mind that if you make changes in this file  machine.config.comments  your changing the pwd requirement for all  asp net 2.0

    You can also place it in web.config - system.web section

    <membership defaultProvider="SqlProvider"
      userIsOnlineTimeWindow = "20>
      <providers>
        <add
          name="SqlProvider"
          type="System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider"
          connectionStringName="SqlServices"
          requiresQuestionAndAnswer="true"
          minRequiredNonalphanumericCharacters="1"
          />
      </providers>
    </membership>
