Date Time Picker garbled after Windows 10 Creators Update

    Question

  • Issue on custom WPF DateTimePicker  control .  The text is garbled  on Windows Creators Update  version machines . The DateTimePicker text rendered very randomly. The custom DateTimePicker  control  was implemented by hosting windows form’s  DateTimePicker in WPF  as User control. In other Windows 10 version this works fine .

How to fix this issue ?

  • Hi Sree2017,

    Thank you for posting here.

According to your description, In other windows 10 version this works fine. it seems that it is a bug for windows creators update version.

If you think the issue is bug, I suggest you post the issue on connect website. which will solve the bug for the next version.

Could you provide reproducing demo for testing the issue?

    Best Regards,

    Hart

  • This is a bug in the Date Time Picker control implemented in COMCTL32.DLL version 5. There should be a fix for this issue in the near future.

The Date Time Picker control implemented in COMCTL32.DLL version 6 does not appear to be affected by this issue.

  • Dear Dave,

This is VERY problematic, because of the stupid 'forced updates by Microsoft'. Now I have to inform my customers to use group policies to stop all Windows updates until this is fixed.

    Help, help, help!!

Do you know that COMCTL32.DLL version 5 will be fixed? and if so any idea when?

Using version 6 introduces various other issues in our applications (registry access, panel colouring)

  • The June cumulative update for Windows 10 (KB 4022725) includes an updated COMCTL32.DLL that contains a fix for this issue. The file version should be 5.82.15063.413 after the update is installed.

  • I had the exact same problem with the Creators Update with a Time Attendance Software from ZKTeco. I ran the app in windows xp mode and got the DT Picker to work. Seems that the compatibility mode reroutes the software through older versions of certain resources, in this case, the COMCTL32.DLL.

  • I am using a number of applications in Delphi Xe4 and this is bugging all my applications... Is another update upcomming or will I have to revert to removing the latest updates for Windows 10 (home)?

  • Further to my notes on the above, I have tried to restore back as well as removed the updates to no avail - I am back to provious version (prior to Window 10 Creator) but the problem the datetimepicker is still there...

I am getting many many calls from clients...  Something must be done soon to fix that bug!!!

  • Update is due today, June 13 although there's no sign of it yet...

Interesting that the #3129203 entry seems to have been deleted from Microsoft Connect.
