Font Name varies while converting a .pptx file to PDF RRS feed

  • Question

  • Font changes when converting a PowerPoint presentation to PDF format using MS PowerPoint

    Steps:

    1.        Create a new Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx) with a blank slide and copy the symbol "" into the slide.
    2.        Save the presentation as PDF document (.pdf).

When the symbol is pasted into PowerPoint, Microsoft PowerPoint viewer shows "Calibri (body)" font for this symbol/character. But in the converted PDF document the Adobe Reader shows the same character in "Segoe UI Symbol" font.

    Query:

Can someone please tell me how the font name "Calibri (body)" in PowerPoint is converted to "Segoe UI Symbol" in the converted PDF document?

Hint: You can press Ctrl+D to know the fonts used in Adobe Reader.
