Row_number() Over( ) is Not supported in Typed data sets Asp.Net 2.0 RRS feed

  • Hi there

    I am working on .Net 2.0 with Sql Server 2005

    when i place" select Row_Number() over(orderby col1),* from table " in select query of typed data set

    I get an error saying that

    "OVER is not supporeted"


    any idea----

  • So you're querying the typed dataset not the SQL Server directly? I don't think that typed dataset has the same supportability on functions as SQL Server. To do this, you could do "select * from table" and add another column manually instead of select Row_Number() directly.

  • can you just be bit more specific, i mean how would I add a col manualy in the result of the dataset or where do you want me to add col.

    I am giving the typed dataset as datasource for object data source control and there after Object datasource control is given as data source for FormView.

    Values are displayed on the form view based on selected value from gridview(which has datakey of another col.)
