Everything Works: But Links from search results Deny me! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, I have run into a very odd problem. I will try to give a detailed breakdown.

I have a Search Server Express 2008 running on a Windows Server 2008 R2. I have crawled the desired network location(File search only). I can now use the Sharepoint search engine web page to find documents. The keyword searching and results work flawless. Now i run into the problem.

When I click on a link  to open a file or try to open in a new Window in ANY BROWSER but IE6. It simply does nothing! It doesnt even give me a error message or anything. I have double checked on multiple computers. However if i use IE6 the link works flawless no problem

If I try to do Save Target-As on the link i finally get a error message "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded". Now when i saw this i thought it to be a IE Properties Zone problem. I went ahead and opened up ALL security in custom mode under zone in IE Properties and other browsers. This does nothing.

At this point I am going mad. I even checked Outlook 2010 to see if somehow the security rights there effect the browser (known to happen in Windows mail). All the required security settings in Sharepoint Application management has been set and is wide open for my domain users. I am using Server name Mapping.

Last thing of Note, if I copy and Paste the link path given to me in the search results for a file into the browser adress field That works! however i cant copy and paste a link for every file i want to view.

    anyone got ideas?
