Internet Explorer 9 - forced installation. How to recover? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

After trying to use the IE9 Beta I have avoided it.
(My bank does not work with it for example)

But in a moment of distraction a new update sneaked by and there it was.
I disabled under Windows functions but it made no difference.
So I brutaly removed the actual update.
But then I ended up completly without web browser.
Fetched Google Chrome from a stick to be able to write this.
Also fetched IE9 again from Microsoft but it fails to install as something "newer" already is installed (I guess something still is in the registry from the update)

I would like to, in priority order:

    1. Go back to IE8 and have my old environment (both 32 and 64 bits browsers)

    2. Install IE9 and at least have my bookmarks and settings back
