how is the data transfered to the BING server? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I drew a map from corner lat/long and pushed a pin on it.

I monitored the http request sent to BING server and I did not see any lat/long used in my javascript.

I did see some lat/long on one request URL but they are not the ones used in my code. Does microsoft generate them based on my lat/long?

If my customer does not want its lat/long being sent on internet without encryption, any solution for that?

    Thanks,

  • The map control doesn't send the lat/long of pushpins added to the map to Bing's servers.

It will send things like the lat/long of the boundaries of the current mapview, which are required in order to retrieve the background tiles and display the correct copyright attribution etc., but not the lat/long of your data.

  • Also, if security is an issue you may want to cosider using HTTPS.
