Unable to find the driver signing and hardware sign up just loops... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I haven't had to sign any drivers for maybe a year or so.  I logged in to my saved link which is https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/dashboard/hardware/Driver/

    I go there and everything on the left is blank.  So now I'm confused.  So I see the hardware "Register your company to certify and distribute drivers and devices, that are compatible with Windows." which I already signed up a long time ago.  Fine, maybe they have something new.  I click on it and it wants me to create an Azure account, fine, I did that.   Then back around, on:

    Registration - Work account (Azure AD)

    it says to log in, I click the login button and it shows:

    <header class="page-title-header">

    Get started with the Hardware Developer Program

            </header>

    The Windows Hardware Developer Program allows you to
    certify your hardware for Windows and sign and publish your drivers to
    Windows Update.

            <header class="section-header">

    Before you sign up

            </header>

    Please review the following requirements before you start the registration process:

      • You must have an Extended Validation (EV) code signing
        certificate. Please check whether your company already has a code
        signing certificate. If your company already has a certificate, have the certificate available. You will need the certificate to sign files. If your company does not have a certificate, you will need to buy one as part of the registration process.
      • You must have the authority to sign legal agreements on behalf of your organization.

    So I click "Next" and it takes me right back to the prior screen with:

    Registration - Work account (Azure AD)

    I'm in a big loop and I don't know who to contact.  Try to get support via Microsoft is the most confusing thing I've ever encountered.   Shouldn't there be a link there "Have a problem with signing up, click here for support".  On driver signing pages, "Having a problem signing the driver".   Argh!!

    Anyway, I need HELP, I have drivers to sign.  Also I want to ensure I get the UEFI signing ready so It's there when I need it.

  • So, they fixed some stuff, on that first page it told me I was signed on with some other account and that I needed to sign on with the azure and it would link them, this time it took me to the sign on, I signed on, it started the process, but stuck on

    Registration - Sign and upload your file

    I do the process, then upload (which i did a long time ago on the old dev hardware dashboard) and then complains that the certificate is already in use and I can't move forward.  Of course it's in use, it's the old system.

    So stuck again!

  • Hey David,

    Looking up information on this I believe you'll need to open a ticket to HDC to resolve this issue. Here is the site to create a ticket:

    https://developer.microsoft.com/windows/support

    Additional FAQ for HDC can be found here:
