Xamarin Forms (Android, iOS UWP) with Bing Maps? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have a request to build  Xamarin Forms (Android, iOS, UWP) application with Bing Maps.

I want Bing Maps to be displayed inside the Content Page - so I can add/remove pushpins on the map.

1 Do you have a simple example how we can achieve this?

2 Do we have some nuget plugin who can support this?

  • Hi Emo,

There are two ways of getting Bing Maps on all platforms:

    1. Use the web control across all platforms

    2. Use the individual Bing Maps native control options as documented here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/bingmaps/

The iOS and Android controls we released recently so I don't believe they are integrated into Xamarin at this point but the team is looking into that now.  I can't give you a firm timeline as to when they will have completed their review.

    Sincerely,

  • Hi Emo,

If you are using Xamarin.forms is there a reason you are not leveraging Xamarin.forms.map?  There are also discussions in the Xamarin forums around the maps offering in forms.

I found some decent info with a simple web search https://www.bing.com/search?q=bing+maps+in+xamarin but if this is not what you are asking, can you please clarify what you are looking for?

    Sincerely,

  • Thanks for your quick response.

I want to use Bing Maps in Xamarin Forms for all platforms - Android/iOS/UWP.
Standard Xamarin.forms.map supports different maps for every platform.

I want to use Bing Maps in all of them. Is there easy way of achieving this?

The only example which I found in the internet is uploaded on my google drive with link -

Xamarin Forms - Bing Maps for all platforms

Is this the correct way of doing this?
Inside the shared project in Xamarin forms - to call for example my_map.html file from every specific platform Android/iOS/UWP and inside this html page to load the bing maps?
