How to Publish Master page to wss 3.0

Question

I created a Master Page using ASP.NET 2.0. I want to use this page for a web site created using wss 3.0

I am using SharePoint Designer 2007 to change the default master page of the website. But i am not able to publish the master page which i developed. SharePoint web site giving following error -

 

The control type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.XmlDataSource' is not allowed on this page. The type is not registered as safe.

 

Can some one guide me how i can publish and make use of the master page to WSS 3.0 web site

Try to create your Master Page from your Designer __ file/New/sharepoint content/ select asp.net / master type.

 

 

Then, open site in designer / format/ master pages/ Attach your master page.

If you peek into the web.config for your WSS site, you will find a Safe Control entry for System.Web.UI.WebControls and TypeName="XmlDataSource". But by default, the attribute Safe is set to false as in Safe="False".

Set that to True and you should be going good.
