Menus should be white

    General discussion

  • In Windows XP, menus became white with black text abandoning the gray look. But in Windows Vista, menus once again became gray and have remained gray in Windows 7. White menus IMHO look much better. Menus are still used in plenty of Windows apps. The Start Menu's expandable submenus are gray, IE's menus are gray, the context menu is gray everywhere. White menus look much better. Please make the menu background white once again.

The left one is from Windows Developer Preview and right one from Windows XP. Excuse the text rendering, as I am using a different font smoothing in the right one but the white background definitely looks better IMHO.

Even jump lists have a mostly white background (with a slight bluish gradient) and they look so much better than menus. Please consider making menu background white.
