can i extract git repo files from c# RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi from what i'm seeing if git is installed, its relatively easy to call it from c# and issue commands to the remote repo. But what if it isn't installed? Is there a way to extract items from a git remote repo with off the shelf .net classes?  I know in the past I found ways to scan tfs repos for character strings.  Our git repo is sitting on a tfs server alongside non git directories.  I'm hoping whatever I learn here will carry over to powershell as well.

  • No.  Git is essentially a big database server.  Just finding the files you are interested in is not trivial.  If you need git, you'll need to include an git install step in your installation process.
