AggregateFunction set to NONE RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

My client has reporting solution. He uses relational database, but it works slow. He wants me to rewrite all reports to use CUBE made with SSAS 2005. All reports which use aggregation like COUNT or SUM I made without a problem. But there’re some reports where are just simple select statement like:

     SELECT clientName, ClientSomethingFK, ClientSomething1FK FROM dbo.clients .

I’m not sure, but I think that’s impossible to use it with SSAS 2005. Or meaby I can make it with messure for “clientName”  AggregateFunction  set to NONE? What do you think about that? Do you have any idea?

If you define a dimension called clients with above three columns as your attributes, you could simply translate your sql statement into following MDX.

    select {NULL} on 0,

    {[Clients].[ClientName].[ClientName].members * [Clients].[ClientSomethingFK].[ClientSomethingFK].members * [Clients].[ClientSomething1FK].[ClientSomething1FK].members } on 1
