Multitouch support Windows 7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey MS,

Bing Maps in IE9 supports multitouch on my Windows 7 machine. I can zoom it / out using two fingers.

However, I wonder how you implemented this feature. Officially, IE9 does not support multitouch.

Could you save me some reverse engineering time and tell me how you did it?

    Thank you,
    Kevin

  • Sorry, I think my question was not clear enough.

You are right, IE9 supports certain multitouch features. However, I am not sure if those capabilities are accessible through JavaScript.

Are there any events I can listen to that notify me when the user (multi!) touches the document?

Bing Maps is somehow able to figure out that the zoom gesture is being applied. My question is: How?

I cannot find any javascript event such as touchstart / touchmove / touchend that would work.

    Thank you

  • you will find most multi touch drivers simulate the mouse wheel for pinching if the app does not natively support touch, thats my experience in most browsers on my screen
