retail in store RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • hi,

i want to develop retail POS web application.

i want to listen the experts' opinion.

Right now , i am not even familiar with full domain understanding (business understanding).

i have to do everything my own-self. i mean its domain, data model, design, development and document.

can i get some good open source with domain document (business document).

second thing is that i need to insert bar codes of every product at least (for type of super stores).

My application could have printing invoices and receipts as well.

User can pay the bill (either credit card and paypal and other online services but must be support in all countries).

If a client come to the store and after getting things , he pay through his Online ATM or Credit Card then it should deduct the funds as well.

Any further guidence would be really appreciated.

Please guide about the devices which i can attach to it.

  • Are you looking for help writing a Windows Store app (the topic of this forum) or a Web app (which are covered in other forums)?

Either way you probably need to do some initial research and then come back when you have more specific questions.

  • Thanks ROb.

I simply wanted to ask that is there any alternative to support POS .Net libraries in Store app?

I heared these are dead in store apps.

  • Correct. POS for .Net is not supported in Windows Store apps.

Windows 8.1 Preview provides support for several device types useful for POS applications (e.g. barcode scanners and magnetic strip readers. See Point of Service (POS) device support ), but doesn't include a full end-to-end POS framework like you describe. You would need to write that yourself.
