Hide default WinRt Toast notification when a NFC Tag is detected (I want to handle this in my app!)

    Question

  • Hi,

quick one: I've created an app who reads NFC values from NFC cards (mostly urls). I want to avoid the default toast notification "receive content? tap to receive ..." because I'm already processing this information in my Win8.1 app.

    Any ideas / suggestions?

    Thanks!

    /Bruno

  • Hi El Bruno,

I don't think its possible, as I know windows store app runs in a sandbox mode, all the notifications are handled by system before passing to your app, in another word, your app cannot decide system level stuff, for instance which notification should not be displayed.

  • if you handle the messge that is on the NFC tag the toast shouldn't pop up. see this app:

go to room details to publish nfc tag and the  scan the tag. no toast. didn't do anyting special (only received the message)

  • Thanks to everyone.

When I use a NFC Tag written with URL information, Windows automatically will display the action associated to an URL. However if I save custom information in the NFC Tag, I can handle it without the "toast notification".

    Thanks again
