  • You've asked this question in the Visual C++ Express forum, so are your using Visual Studio 2012 Express for Desktop?

    If so, there is an empty project template in the C++ category. I suspect, however, that this is not what you are looking for.

    Are you looking for something analogous to the Blank Solution found in VS 2010? If so, it's there under Other Project Types->Visual Studio Solutions.

    For better feedback, please clarify what VS 2012 edition you are using.

  • Please clarify: " I use visual c++ 2012 express edition".

    There is no such product. With Visual Studio 2012, Microsoft discontinued the language-specific Express Editions in favor of:

    VS 2012 Express for Windows 8

    VS 2012 Express for Windows Desktop

    VS 2012 Express for Web

    The last VS version to have language-specific Express editions was VS 2010.

    I have both VC++ 2010 Express and all three VS 2012 Express editions installed here, and find the C++ Empty Project template VC++ Express 2010 and in VS 2012 Express for Windows Desktop.

    Ah! Then you have the wrong edition of VS 2012 Express. VS 2012 Express for Windows 8 supports creation of Windows Store (AKA Metro) apps only.

    The edition you want is Visual Studio 2012 Express for Windows Desktop:
