Deleting Empty records from BAM Portal RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I am using BAM to track data. In the first instance , the Bam definitions and TPE were applied and were working properly. There was an orchestration change (which effects the tracking), but updating the TPE was  missed out . Now that there are hundreds of records with NULL values in the BAM_(myActivity)_Completed Database and empty records in the portal.

How can I delete those records? Will deleting those records from the above mentioned table help? or are there any chances the the database might be left in an inconsistent state.

Am trying to gain more knowledge in understanding the BAM databases, but an expertise advice might be helpful in this situation!!

    Appreciate any help!!

    Thanks!!

  • Hi Ayesha,

RemoveDanglingInstances stored procedure can be created in BAMPrimaryImport database.

execute the sp providing the activity name. this removes the dangling instances from BAM database from bam_ActivityName_Active table.

For bam_ActivityName_Completed table,  IMHO, you can safely delete/truncate the NULL entries. There will be no impact.

  • Hi Ayesha

You can safely delete the records you don't need in the BAM_(myActivity)_Completed table. This is the simplest way.

First run a correct SELECT query to select the set of rows that you want to delete. Then you can run a DELETE on the same resultset.

    Thanks Arindam
