You can follow the instructions here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941329 But note that when I did this I ran into a problem with Internet Explorer's setting to show friendly http errors. THe MS KB article says to get around this you can change your setting. Of course on a website, the problem is that you cant change it for everyone. In my tests it showed the default IE error. Probably because of the size of my custom404 error page. Wikipedia says this occurs if your custom404 is less that 512 bytes. So, just ensure that it is greater than 512 bytes and then it should work. Please let us know how it goes.
