AAC codec in Expression RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can someone tell me which AAC codec does Expression use?

    Is it Fraunhofer's? Dolby's? MainConcept?

    Thank you!

  • Unfortunately no. From what I understand, the license is tied to EE3.

Sorry about the confusion, I meant above that we ship with a version similar to the Win7 AAC decoder and also a Microsoft-built AAC encoder in EE3 (the AAC encoder obviously doesn't ship with Win7).

  • We use Microsoft's, similar to the one shipping in Win7.

  • Oh.

So is it possible to encode audio with it in some other Windows/Microsoft application?
