  • Ruby on Rails...

    Ruby is an object-oriented language, developed as early as 1990 in Japan...

    Rails is a framework built on ruby for building web application, created by a project manager from 37signals for one of their project couple years ago and caught on...

    If you know .NET, then for easy understanding this is how you would read it,

    Ruby = C#, VB.NET, etc.,

    Ruby on Rails = ASP.NET using C#, VB.NET, etc.,

    I think, people want to use PHP for presentation and Ruby on Rails as server components...  like in MVC pattern, View would be built on php and Model/Controller is built on ruby on rails...  This is my assumption because I have not personally built web apps using Ruby.
