BizTalk 2020 Visual Studio 2019 - Bug Report with XSLT 3.0 RRS feed

When doing a test map, and you have errors in your XSLT 3.0 stylesheet, those error are not displayed in the Visual Studio 2019 "output" window, but should be.  it only says "Errors were reported during stylesheet compilation", and leaves you guess what those error are.

The only alternative found so far is to run the Saxon "Transform.exe" command from the command line, find the error, fix the XSLT 3.0, then come back and do the "Test Map" in Visual Studio.

NOTE: This can be reproduced by taking an otherwise good XSLT 3.0 stylesheet, and putting an extra unknown namespace in this attribute of the root element:

    exclude-result-prefixes="msxsl var s1 s0 someBadNameHere"

  • There is a (sort of) workaround to this issue here, but it involved writing a custom XSLT Engine that uses the Saxon engine and logs a more detailed output.

  • I put this in as a suggested enhancement in CU1.  We'll see if they take it.
