How to determine the status of a query?

Hi All,

I have a query that runs for about 10-30min to return results, and was wondering if I add this to a application, how can I determine how long the query has to complete so I can update my progress indicator to the user?

Maybe we should focus on speeding up the query!!

For example, for applications having pre-aggregation tables and denormalized tables can be used judiciously to drastically reduce processing time by elimination of analytics and table joins for the improving the application display event.
