App certificates not updated

    Question

  • Hi,

    I have a C++ Windows Store application with Certificate declaration section in the manifest

    <Extension Category="windows.certificates">
      <Certificates>
        <Certificate StoreName="Root" Content="cacert.der" />
        <Certificate StoreName="CA" Content="cacert.der" />
        <TrustFlags ExclusiveTrust="true" />
      </Certificates>
    </Extension>

    cacert.der is added to the project Content property set to yes, and Item Type is "Does Not Participate in build"

    That works well the CA certificate is used by the application, unless when cacert.der file is updated, in this case the application keeps using the old file even after I rebuild and deploy from Visual Studio, to get the new certificate working I need to manually uninstall the application from metro desktop and run it again from Visual Studio.

    I using Visual Studio 2013 and Windows 8.1 if that matters, is there a way for Visual Studio to automatically update this certificates when the application rebuilds, deploys?

  • Seems there is no method can do that. you should reinstall the app to update the certificate.
