Bing Maps Webservice Termination RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all

I am a little confused about the termination of MapPoint Services. I have several apps running that uses the bing map soap services.

I am using the following webservices:

    http://dev.virtualearth.net/webservices/v1/geocodeservice/GeocodeService.svc
    http://dev.virtualearth.net/webservices/v1/routeservice/routeservice.svc

Until now I used the token Service to gain access. This week I generated a Bing Maps Key and now I am authenticating with this key. Works fine.

So I am not sure if I am using Bing maps or MapPoint since the URL is (virtualearth.net)...

Can I still use this webservices after 18. November 2011 or can only the REST Endpoint be used after that date?

    Can anyone help me?

    Regards
    Thomas

  • The url that you are using refer to the Bing Maps SOAP Web Service that you will be able to use event after your specified date. So, to be clear, yes you can use these webservices.

The old url part is only about the existing DNS thing, if you take a look at the AJAX control, it still use the old url name refering to the previous name of the platform (Virtual Earth).
