A question or 2 about where to ask a question for EOM deployments

    Question

  • Hi Everyone,

I was at an MS Developer Camp yesterday, and the presenter mentioned that Metro Style apps can only be deployed via the MS App store.  I suppose this is fine for small development shops selling programs via the internet.  My company manufactures its own machines, and we deploy the software as part of our manufacturing process.  When I asked about this, the presenter sternly told me "The days of crapware are gone." While I was taken back by her response, I didn't see any point in arguing with her, because she did admit that she didn't have any information concerning OEM issues.

This response does concern me though, because we produce very good software.  Is there a feeling in the Microsoft community that OEM software is crap?

More importantly, will a company like mine be unable to produce Metro-style user interfaces simply because deploying via the App store just isn't practical for us and our customers?  Is Microsoft going to offer a work around for this?

If someone can point me in the correct direction, I would appreciate it.

    Sincerely,

    halciber
