Question
-
I have a bootable usb stick with windows 8 developper preview on it (I use the windows 7 usb/dvd download tool) but i am not able to change the bios to boot from a usb port and i am not able to make a bootable dvd sinse my cd/dvd burner is malfuncionning so i was wondering if its possible to install windows 8 another way.
Im running windows XP sp2 im not connected to the internet and sinse this is my old CPU I am open to take risk that might make my CPU unbootable. I can instal almost any software on my cpu through my wide collection of usb sticks.
Thank you

You can start the install while Windows is running, instead of doing it from the USB try from the hard drive.
Are you sure the older computer can run WDP? Run Windows Upgrade Advisor to see if there are any known issues that might affect the installation (it's for Windows 7, but the requirements are similar).

Have you tried coping the WDP install files to the hard drive, then double clicking the setup file to start the install?

Is it ok that I install windows 8 while widows XP Is still runing? I did try to open setup.exe directly from the usb stick and after the installation was completed I got an error with the blue screen of death. Would it be because I was downloading windows 8 at the same time windows XP was running?Wednesday, September 28, 2011 11:07 PM

No, downloading WDP while having WinXP running does not affect your download.
Also, try installing without WindowsXP running, just to make sure. I did install it while Windows7 was running, but there's a time gap of quite a few years between XP & 7.Regards,
