Should Developers Clean Install to Consumer Preview?

    Question

  • I'm developing a Metro App for Windows 8. Should I as a developer upgrade to the Consumer Preview?

Are there any benefits to upgrading to the consumer preview?

The machine in question is 100% a dev platform so wiping it isn't a problem.

  • I'd recommend yes. The Windows Metadata might be installed to a new location, causing problems with applications that are attempting to locate the correct API.

Preserving documents/music/etc should be fine, but you'll likely want to not preserve applications.

  • I also have this question, is there going to be an update to our install? or are we going to have another install that is consumer preview but for devs.

  • my main concern is since its named "consumer" preview will it also have the tools we need to develop or is there going to have different versions, i would think so i guess just like this one where one is the normal OS and another one with the tools. Can't Wait for this! i am super excited.
