StorageClient throws error "Value does not fall within expected range"

    Question

  • Here's my stacktrace:

Error 'Value does not fall within the expected range.' uploading d5d601b9-f978-44a9-92cd-63371c92e196.jpg

at Microsoft.WindowsAzure.StorageClient.Tasks.Task`1.get_Result() at Microsoft.WindowsAzure.StorageClient.Tasks.Task`1.ExecuteAndWait() at Microsoft.WindowsAzure.StorageClient.TaskImplHelper.ExecuteImpl(Func`1 impl) at Microsoft.WindowsAzure.StorageClient.CloudBlob.UploadFromStream(Stream source, BlobRequestOptions options) at Microsoft.WindowsAzure.StorageClient.CloudBlob.UploadFromStream(Stream source) at CopyMie.CopyMieForm.UploadFileToContainer(FileInfo file, String blobPath, Int32 questionID) at CopyMie.CopyMieForm._bgw_DoWork(Object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e)

Very little turns up from a web search, mainly people getting the error message in other commercial products by various companies (and quite often SHarePoint) but nothing in relation to Azure's storageclient

  • Hi,

You could receive the "Value does not fall within the expected range" error for multiple reasons and to isolate the issue we might require more details on the file you upload, the environment and the when the error occurs.

Are you uploading the file as a Page Blob or a Block Blob?
You could refer the following link for details on these 2 Blobs:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/ee691964.aspx

Also, what is the size of the File Name you are trying to upload? May be your file name is too long and is not supported with Azure Containers.

There may be more parameters or values which we can look as of now , recommend you to provide more details about the issue.

    Regards,
    Malar.
