Hi bluize76,
Thanks for your question. Based on the description in the thread, it seems that there is one matrix in the mainreport, this matrix has two column
groups and three row groups, DeptName – RoleName is one of the group, when you clicked on the values of DeptName – RoleName, you would like pass this value to one parameter in subreport, subreport displays the EmployeeName
corresponding to this value, the structure about the other four groups are same as the mainreport, right? If I understand your question incorrect, please let me know.
For the error message “Read-only” of the parameter, I guess you set the parameter as Internal. Please double-click
the parameter in the Report Data window of the subreport, uncheck the option of Internal in the checkboxlist of Select parameter visibility.
The sample about how to pass parameters from mainreport to subreport, I would suggest you reference this similar thread I had
handled, how to pass parameters in Reporting Services:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/e9bdb706-f5c2-44c2-8436-1c48f931e1cd.
Hope these help you. If there is anything unclear, please feel free let me know.
Thanks,
Sharp Wang
