How do I even start installing? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Anything coding related seems to come as .msi archives, with zero information how to unpack.
The standard Win 10 application just prompts a password of unknown qualiy and then nothing.
Using an unzip app, I have the sb files in a folder, and the executables on't get very far.

Why does even installing anything coding related need to be so incredibly in-crowd complicated? I'm far from stupid but my questions tend to be beyond Google. I just want to know how to install the thing...

Let me rephrase. Which prior knowledge is required to even start thinking about looking into coding?

Someone online make a bit of code available and recommended just downloading SB andd here I am, frustrated...

  • Hi,

An msi will install for you if you run it like an application, just download and double click it from File Explorer and use all default options.  You do not manually unpack an msi.

    About msi files -

Similarly to uninstall an application (including SB) use the unistaller (found in Programs and Features) - don't try to do it manually.

Web search engine is your friend on this kind of stuff (the links I put) straight from web search.

Main SB site for download (msi)

Finally forums like this are there to try to help.

    As a last thought...

It is possible that you have associated msi file with a zip archive (since it does contain zipped files) while trying to install.  In this case try Right Click + Open with... and select Windows Installer.

Now I am guessing, so more details describing exactly what you tried and what happens.
