Export / Import CMS content between instances of API Management? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have 3 API Management instances (Dev, Test, Prod).

We need a strategy to migrate the Content management pieces (Media Library, Page customizations like the Welcome page, and the "Widget" and "Navigation" configurations) between these instances.

We've explored the Backup / Restore feature which *does* move this content but also overwrites the User database and everything else (for example, the backend server names pointing to that environment's servers).  Useful for a disaster recovery strategy seemingly not just promoting CMS content.

We've also explored the new "git configuration" management option, but that doesn't appear to include any of our changes to the look & feel from the "Widgets", "Content", and "Media Library" in the repository (unless I somehow missed it).

We've explored the powershell cmdlets for Api Management as well as rest apis, and nothing seems to expose the CMS portion of the Api Management site (excluding of course the full-site Backup/Restore, which clobbers the other settings)

Is there another feature that would allow our designer to do the following?

    1. Implement look and feel changes in our Dev Api Management instance

    2. Export those changes / current configuration (including media library assets)

    3. Import those changes (without clobbering the actual Api / Product / User configurations in the target environment)

If not, what strategies are recommended to ensure the look & feel is consistent between instances?
