[MS-OXCPERM] PidTagSecurityDescriptorAsXml interoperability RRS feed

  • Question

  • MS-OXCPERM v20100205 Section 3.1.4.1 says (in part) "the client can try to open a stream handle on the PidTagSecurityDescriptorAsXml property of the folder by using a RopOpenStream request (with a link to product behaviour note 6). If the client sends this request, the server MUST return an error code of ecNotImplemented instead of satisfying the request.

Note 6 basically says all versions of outlook depend on that call failing.

So no version of exchange can satisfy the request (because that will break Outlook compatibility), but every version of Outlook tries the request.  I'm a bit confused by what the goal of this tag is. Is PidTagSecurityDescriptorAsXml ever used?
