VS2019 - Outlook 2010 - Add-in - Ribbon not showing in Outlook RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all.

    I am using Visual Studio Community 2019.

    I am trying to convert a series of VBA functionnalities into a VSTO Add-in which would be much easier to deploy to my users.

    Unfortunately, I can't seem to make my ribbons appears in Outlook.

    So far, I have created my ribbon with the Visual Designer.

    I have set the RibbonType property so that the Ribbon show when appropriate (Microsoft.Outlook.Explorer and a bunch of other choices because I tried all I could to make the ribbon appear somewhere...)

    When I just do that, the add-in is correctly loaded by Outlook, but I can't see my Ribbon.

    Then, I tried to override the CreateRibbonExtensibilityObject method with the following code:

     Protected Overrides Function CreateRibbonExtensibilityObject() As Microsoft.Office.Core.IRibbonExtensibility
            Return New Ribbon1()
        End Function

    But then, the add-in would not load correctly in Outlook. However, I didn't find any clew explaining what is wrong with that.

    I would really appreciate some help on this matter as I don't understand why I am struggling with this issue while others seem to say that adding a Ribbon is obvious..

    Regards.

    Florian.
