Interactive Categorizing Feature in SQL Reporting Services? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everyone

I understand that in SQL version 2005, a simple interactive sorting can be done to the report after it has been generated. However, what if you want more interactivity?

For example, in Excelt pivot tables, there is a way to visually have a pop up window when you click on a field which allows you to choose what information you would like to view that is related that field you have just clicked.

Say, there is general field of "California," and under that field, there are many types of data related to California such as Cities, donners' name, their address, phone numbers, donated amount, date and etc... that are within that state. However, you dont' want to see all the data all the time. How do you go about being able to interactively change and choose what kind of data you want to see without having to regenerate the report evertime?

Is there something in "Interactive Sorting" feature tin version 2005 that can be manipulated to sort not just ascending or descending order but in terms of category?

    Thanks for any information
