Store application settings in application database RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there any example where we can store app settings in database?

I know for applicationname.settings file and that are client specific settings.

What I need is same settings for every client.. (report header image, report footer text, tax percent value and similar data)

My idea is to create one settings table which have key (string), value (binary), data type (string) and description (string). Users can only change value column, and other columns are disabled.

Binary values are for any kind of data (numbers -> BitConverter, Image -> bytes, string ->

System.Text.Encoding.XXX.GetBytes(), ...). And put some code to make this everything works.

Is this good idea or something else is better?

    Thanks!
