Checking for updates in Dorado fails with error: 80072EE7 or 801881EF (can’t check for updates) RRS feed

  • Cause:
    This error typically indicates one of two things:

    -          HTC Arrive (Sprint) only: you have hit a known bug which only affects some phones.

    -          USB instability causing the Desktop Pass-through (DTPT) connection between the phone and the PC to stop working correctly. You can verify if DTPT is working or not by turning Airplane Mode on (Settings -> Airplane Mode), connecting the phone to the PC with Dorado launched, and then using IE on the phone to browse to web sites.

    What to do:
    Go to the App Hub and log in to your developer account. Under the support tab open a support request (https://windowsphone.create.msdn.com/support?redirectToUrl=%2FApp)– select “Technical Exception” from the drop down menu.
