Transporting SharePoint Design Customization from Development to Staging RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have created Master Pages, Page Layouts, CSS and JavaScript files including images that make up the site, purely using SharePoint Designer 2010. So my customizations include .master, .aspx, .css, .js and few .png files.

I need to move these customizations from Development Server to Staging Server. Please recommend the most feasible way to perform this action?

    Thank you.

    Best Regards,

  • I believe that's one of the cons of using SP Designer, You have to re-do the customisations on Production. You may be able to copy the masterpage files and images and copy them to your production server.

The way around around all of this would be to create a feature with all the Customisations.

  • Hi Ibrahim,

    Thanks for the reply mate.

Could you forward me a blog | link | TechNet article | etc. which explains how to achieve this? I have customized my master pages and page layouts using SharePoint Designer and also created custom workflows and web parts using Visual Studio.

Now, how do I package both these customizations into one package to create a feature? Or, if you can help me with SharePoint Designer customizations only, that would be good for the start.

    Thank you again.
