  • Question

  • Hello, i have created a ready VHD with a Server 2008 R2 System which is activated for later use. This VHD is a kind template system, which i will import when the default environment is required. Now my question is, i want to know how to import such an actived VHD in Hyper-V Manager and would there be problems, because the system is already activated`?

  • Hi Partitionist

Your "template" shouldn't be activated as it will have an activation key bound to your GUID, which won't be unique either, even if you have a VL agreement, you will still need a seperate GUID (Globally Unique IDentifer) for all your machines.

Maybe you should take a look at "sysprepping" using Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK)?
This will let you set up a proper template which will run the installation as unattended as you specfiy (you choose regional settings, language settings, OOBE, license key, etc. etc. from the WAIK).
